Fort Constitution remains closed as unsafe conditions are under evaluation by the NH Parks Department.  The continuing deterioration and unsafe conditions are most unfortunate as 2024 marks the 250th anniversary of the raids in New Castle.  Nevertheless, a reenactment of the raids will take place this December and 14th and 15th. Starting at Strawberry Bank in Portsmouth, Paul Revere will bring news of the British Navy on way to seize the gun powder at Fort William and Mary. A mob will gather, re-group in New Castle and raid the fort, taking down the King’s Colors and relocating powder and arms upriver. Public interaction and viewing of the raid will be possible although only re enactors will be allowed inside the fort.
